1. Project Fact Sheet
Project Title: Haier Group Laiyang Branch | Noise Reduction Project of Rotary Blower
Project Location: Laiyang, Yantai City, Shandong Province, China
The Problem: Multiple industrial Roots blowers were operated continuously inside the manufacturing facility of Haier Group (Laiyang Branch). During operation, these positive displacement blowers generated high-intensity low-frequency aerodynamic pulse noise and mechanical vibration.
The hard reflective surfaces of the workshop amplified internal sound reflection, creating severe reverberation that radiated throughout the production plant. This compromised the occupational health of shop floor operators and created an urgent need for an engineered noise mitigation system. The key requirement was to significantly lower noise emissions without restricting necessary ventilation and heat dissipation required for stable blower performance.

2. Comprehensive Noise Control Solution
1. Modular Soundproof Acoustic Enclosure Each Roots blower was enclosed within a modular acoustic casing built from high-density, double-walled metal sandwich panels. Interior panel faces feature micro-perforated sound-absorbing linings that reduce internal reverberation buildup and lower overall noise radiation. |
2. Top-Mounted Acoustic Louver Ventilation System High-attenuation acoustic louvers were integrated into the top of the enclosure to serve as forced-air intake and exhaust channels. The louver blades are filled with sound-absorbing media, providing smooth airflow for continuous machine cooling while blocking outward sound propagation. |
3. Base Vibration Isolation Mounts Heavy-duty elastomeric vibration isolation pads and spring mounts were installed underneath the blower base frame. This effectively decouples equipment vibration from the shop floor, preventing structure-borne noise transmission. |
4. Integrated Maintenance Access Doors & Hermetic Sealing Quick-release acoustic access doors with heavy-duty seals were installed for daily inspection and maintenance. All cable penetrations and panel joints were treated with specialized flexible sealants to prevent acoustic leaks. |

3. Project Outcomes & Benefits
Evaluation Metric | Achieved Results
Acoustic Performance | Substantial attenuation of Roots blower noise across low, mid, and high frequency spectrums; workshop reverberation significantly reduced.
Thermal & Operational Stability | The integrated acoustic louver system maintained optimal operating temperatures, preventing blower overheating during continuous duty.
Occupational Health & Compliance | The workshop acoustic environment was drastically improved, bringing noise levels fully into compliance with industrial occupational health and safety standards.
4. Commercial Value & Scope of Application This integrated modular enclosure with top-mounted acoustic louvers represents a highly standardized noise control solution for factory floor equipment. It successfully balances thermal dissipation, noise suppression, and maintenance accessibility. This engineering design is widely applicable for noise reduction retrofits across industrial machinery, including Roots blowers, rotary blowers, centrifugal fans, air compressors, and heavy power units in manufacturing, wastewater treatment, and chemical plants.
